NMMA Mourns Sudden Passing of Show Manager Gerry Mulcahy

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of beloved colleague, Geralyn ‘Gerry’ Mulcahy, longtime manager for several NMMA shows, most recently the Kansas City and Des Moines Sportshows. Mulcahy died Saturday in a tragic accident in Moberly, Mo. She was 47.

An industry veteran, Mulcahy would have celebrated her twentieth anniversary with NMMA next month. She began her career at NMMA in 1988 as sales manager for the St. Louis and Nashville Boat Shows, and was quickly promoted to show manager for the Nashville show. She would later become manager of the Kansas City and Des Moines Sportshows.

Mark Adams, vice president of NMMA Sportshows, recruited Mulcahy to NMMA and worked closely with her throughout her career. “I knew Gerry as a co-worker, partner, best friend, daughter, wife and mother. She excelled at all of these tasks. She was truly the best of the best,” notes Adams.

“Gerry was loved by everyone she met. She touched so many with her warmth, energy and enthusiasm.  In her management of several NMMA shows, her exhibitors and colleagues held her in high regard and many knew her for her sense of humor, drive, compassion and the kindness she showed to everyone,” says NMMA president Thom Dammrich. “She will be remembered as one of those quietly competent people who always got the job done. Her sudden and unexpected passing is a devastating loss and shock to us all. She will be greatly missed.”

An esteemed colleague and friend, Mulcahy was most importantly a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Clete, and children, Natalie (17) and Austin (14). Visitation will be held Thursday from 3â8 p.m. at Baue Funeral home in O’Fallon, Mo. and funeral services are Friday from 10:30â11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Church in St. Paul, Mo. The family respectfully requests that memorial donations are sent to the American Cancer Society.
