The Pflueger® Medalist was named the Best Fly Fishing Reel at the 2015 ICAST show in Orlando, Fla. Voters consisted of attending journalists and retailers. The Medalist is widely popular, but received technological upgrades that benefit the many anglers that rely on Pflueger.
The standard arbor classic now boasts enhanced machined construction and technically advanced design. Built for freshwater applications, the Medalist is suited to tame cold-water, high-country trout or manage hard-pulling steelhead.
Lightweight and sporting the look of the traditional fly reel, the Medalist provides anglers with adequate backing capability for long fights with trophy fish. The reel is proven reliable and the click-and-pawl, precision-check-mechanism drag system provides the distinctive fly-reel sound fly anglers love to hear.
The frame and quick-release spool are machined from high-grade aluminum for tighter construction tolerances, precision operation and lower maintenance. The amber polymer handle adds to the classic look while also providing lightweight durability.
The reel is convertible for left- or right-handed retrieve and packaged with a protective reel pouch. The Medalist fly reel is available in three sizes with an MSRP starting at $119.95.
The Pflueger Medalist fly reel is also available in a combo package, paired with a Fenwick® Eagle® fly rod featuring classic Fenwick actions and cork handles in three offerings. MSRP is $199.95 to $219.95.
