It’s been over five years since we have fished at Cypress Springs. Looking at all the couples that brought in fish on Sunday, I cannot remember why we ever quit fishing this great lake. 90% of our C.A.S.T. couples brought fish to the scales at weigh-in. Not only was the fishing outstanding but also the weather could not have been any better. Starting temperature was 65 degrees and it was 83 at weigh-in and there was no wind to hamper anyone in getting to their favorite spot. The lake was in great shape even though a bad storm passed through the area on Friday night. The water was just slightly stained in the upper part of the lake and clear from mid-lake all the way to the dam.
Using a Mister Twister Exude Super Lizard to land most of their catch, Ray and Yolanda Vineyard of Pittsburg brought 15.88 lbs. to the scales to claim First Place. They took home a check for $850.00 for their bag of fish.
In a very close second place with a limit of bass was Charlie and Edwina Harper of Euless with 15.20 lbs. From Pittsburg in third place was Jim & Mary Edwards with 12.88 lbs. Fourth went to Gary Gruber and Karen Cup from Winnsboro with 12.14 lbs. Fifth place was taken by Larry and Carol McMinimy who are all the way from Lufkin with a total weight of 12.09 lbs. Rounding out the top six spots was Davis Burden & Dianne Garman from Garland with 11.50 lbs.
Big Bass
Big bass of the tournament was landed by Joe and Suzie Moss of Bullard with a nice bass going 5.35 lbs. Second big bass was landed by Carol and Larry McMinimy with a fish of 4.93 lbs. Carol caught the bass using a Mr. Twister BigySmal Meatloaf Shad crank bait.
