Ronnie Wagner & Michael Regan Win A/Q Super Team #3

Anglers Quest 2005 Super Team Series #3 blasted off at 6:15 am on Lake Conroe from numerous ramps all over the lake, due to Anglers Quest returning to trailering events. There was 26 anglers showed up to go for the all cash purse of $1430.00. This Series will provide the Super Team “Anglers of the Year” with free entries to all 2006 Super Team Series events. The Super Team Series Championship to be held on August 27-28 will be held 2 days on Lake Livingston and will take the Top 25 teams to a very exciting Championship. The Top 5 Super Team qualifiers will be invited to attend the new “Tournament of Champions” to be held on Martin Creek Reservoir in November and pay the winner a minimum Guaranteed $5000.00 cash. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for.

The air temp at take-off was 62 degrees with a warming to 82 degrees at weigh in time. The water was at approximately normal pool level with water temps running approximately 62 degrees in the main lake. The wind also blew with a 10-20 mph SE breeze. Most Lake Conroe bass were falling prey to slow rolled spinner baits and jigs flipped into the bushes and grass.

Ronnie Wagner from Conroe and Michael Regan from Willis, Tx powered Ronnie’s Triton/Johnson bass rig to mid and north lake area creeks Tx rigged brushhogs in dirt shallow water. Ronnie & Mike claimed the $900.00 and the A/Q Trophies for their win.

Second place went to Scotty & Cheryl Scott from Hockley, Tx. They had 3 bass and one of their bass was the Big Bass of the event, a fine 7.88 lber to anchor their spot and collect $530.00 and the A/Q plaques for their efforts. Cheryl reported catching the Big Bass with a watermelon/red Tx rigged brushhog right after the bass missed Scotty’s lizard in 1 ft of water.

Jeff Hassell from Montgomery & Dennis Hassell from Richards, Tx finished in 3rd with 5 bass at 12.92 lbs. They reported catching their bass casting chartreuse/white spinner baits in the north lake area to shoreline cover in very shallow water.

The next Super Team event is scheduled for April 10 on Lake Livingston and will be headquartered out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle, enter there at any time, call 936-646-4478. Anglers Quest will be on Lake Houston on March 26 for the 6th of 20 GUARANTEED $1000.00 to Win Saturday Series events. Anglers Quest will be on Lake Conroe on March 20 for the 3rd of 7 ProAm Series events. Registration and entry can be done anytime at Anchorage Marina in Willis, Tx.
