Host Jose Wejebe travels to the Indian Ocean to embark upon a four-part Spanish Fly series starting Sunday, Jan. 18 at 9:30 a.m. ET on ESPN2. The ultimate destination is the remote atolls of the Seychelles Islands north of Madagascar. In this week’s ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Sunday episode, the Spanish Fly crew takes a side trip to South Africa’s safari lands to experience close-up experiences with lions, leopards and elephants. The subsequent shows highlight experiences in Kenya and conclude with world class fishing for bonefish and trevally.
Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing returns to the waterways of North Biscayne Bay where George Poveromo started his fishing career. This Sunday’s episode at 7:30 a.m. showcases the overlooked fishing opportunities of North Miami Beach, Fla., and provides details on how to fish inshore and offshore in the same day aboard a small boat. Local captain Gavet Tuttle and Poveromo fish Dumfounding Bay for ladyfish and tarpon before moving offshore for sailfish and kingfish.
Also on Sunday, the Best of Offshore Adventures returns at 8 a.m. with host Chris Fischer detailing a trip to Baja, Mexico. Fishing Adventurer follows at 8:30 a.m. with a new episode set around the islands of the Bijagos Archipelago.
A Day on the Lake, where Bassmaster Elite Series anglers have one day to catch fish on a lake they never fished, will air at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 on ESPN2. Elite Series pro Kevin Langill of Terrell, N.C., who placed second at the 2008 season ending Elite Series event in Syracuse, N.Y., is featured in the 8 a.m. position, while Eight-time BASS event winner Gary Klein of Weatherford, Texas, is on the 9 a.m. episode.
Texas and Canada are the locations for the two new airings of the World’s Greatest Fishing Show on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. ESPN Outdoors personality Mark Zona hooks up with guide Kirk Kirkland in search of alligator gar on Texas’ Trinity River in the 8:30 a.m. position.
In the 9:30 a.m. slot, the World’s Greatest Fishing Show crosses into Canada as Zona and two-time Bassmaster Weekend Series champion Jeff Coble of Manson, N.C., throw big crankbaits for smallmouth bass.
Beat Charlie Moore returns Saturday at 7:30 a.m. with a show on catching large bass where Moore is challenged by the crew in fishing and basketball.
