Anglers Quest 2007 Twin Lake Saturday Series #6 on Lake Houston out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, TX began this event with 32 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1185.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 7:05 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Saturday Series after all 20 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2008 Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams will go to the Saturday Series Championship in October on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston. A special Top 7 group of teams will qualify to go to the Guaranteed $10,000.00 to the winning team “Tournament of Champions” to be held in November on Lake Tyler. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $100.00 per team.

Lake Houston water was alot off color due to the recent rains and about 1/2 ft above normal pool level with water temps running 64-69 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 48 degrees with a warming to 78 degrees by weigh in time. The fishing is getting much better on Lake Houston as there were 6 limits brought to the scales, a total of 44 bass at 98.75 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.24 lb.

It was the one man team today as Steve Cross from Spring, Tx ran his Astroglas/Mercury bass rig to Luces Bayou creek areas to catch his bass throwing spinner baits in 1-3 ft of water around very shallow cover. Steve only caught 5 bass at 13.57 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $625.00, but 1 of Steve’s bass was the Big Bass of the event, a fine 4.78 lber that paid him an additional $100.00, giving him a $725.00 payday for his day on the lake.

David Wheaton from Crosby and Tansley Bynog Sr from Porter, Tx ran David’s DynaTrac/Mercury bass rig to the West Fork area of the lake to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass, caught on Tx & C-rigged plastics that tipped the scales at 13.03 lbs. David & Tansley’s day on the lake payed back $275.00 for their efforts. They also had the 2nd Big Bass at 3.87 lbs to collect $60.00 giving them a total payday of $335.00.

Doug Worzel from Humble, Tx finished in 3rd place with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 11.95 lbs to collect $125.00 for his day on the water. Doug also fished alone today and run his Triton/Mercury rig to various creeks all over the lake to catch his bass flippin plastics and spinner baits to very shallow cover.

Anglers Quest’s next event will kickoff the 23 event Tuesday Series on Lake Houston at Lake Houston Marina on April 3rd $70.00 team entry & take off will be at 6pm weigh in will be at 9:15 pm. April 4th will kickoff the Wednesday Series on Lake Conroe with $65.00 team entry hosted from Anchorage Marina will also takeoff at 6pm and weigh in at 9:15 pm. Anglers Quest will be at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston on Saturday, April 7 for the 7th of 20 Saturday series events.
