Hot and humid describe Saturday’s weather on Lake Hugo in Oklahoma and the North Region couples were happy to end the day at 2:00. Fishing was good for half the entries with the others struggling to get keepers in the boat. Lots of small fish were caught – with various gar and drum thrown in along the way.
Ending their season with their win were Steve and Mary Weber with a 11.94 pound stringer. They reported being able to cull several times throughout the day. Their stringer included Men’s Big Bass – a 3.35 pound largemouth. For their efforts, they won $294 for first place, $24.50 for Men’s Big Bass and a gift certificate from Brannan’s Bass Shop in Powderly. They reported catching their fish on Steve’s hand made jigs.
Scott and Julie Callaway were second with a 10.34 pound limit. Their stringer was anchored by Julie’s 2.71 pound catch which won Ladies’ Big Bass. Scott and Julie received a check for $75 courtesy of BC Steel for second place. They caught their fish on a variety of baits including brush hogs, spinner baits and, Rat-L-Traps.
Dan and Terri Jezek won third place with five fish weighing 9.80 pounds. The Jezeks were presented with a check for $25 courtesy of BC Steel. They also won a $25 gift card from Crucial Tackle. With this third place finish, Dan and Terri were able to capture the title of North Region Anglers of the Year. The Jezeks have fished with the North Region the past two years and are a nice couple who are always tough competitors. Congratulations for a job well done.
Don and Shirley Anthony took fourth place with five fish weighing 7.14 pounds.
Big Bass winners were Steve Weber and Julie Callaway who were presented with checks for $24.50 and gift certificates from Brannan’s Bass Shop in Powderley.
The side pot was split by Kyle & Ann Johnson and Barry & Tami Grigg with each taking $35. Jesse and Kathy Timmons won a gift certificate from Double ZZ Lures. Kyle and Ann Johnson won a $25 gift card from Crucial Tackle. Each team received a tackle pack which included items from Mann’s Hard Nosed Baits, Charlie Brewer’s Slider Company, and Stanley Jigs.
