Team Evinrude had an unforgettable performance at this past weekend’s FLW Tour event at Lake Chickamauga. Rookie Casey Martin won his first career FLW tournament in dominating fashion, while four other Team Evinrude anglers finished in the top ten. But the weekend belonged to 18-year pro Andy Morgan, who not only finished in fifth place but secured the coveted Angler of the Year trophy.?
Morgan held a narrow points lead heading into the tournament, but was able to capture the title after reeling in an impressive total of 73 pounds, 8 ounces of Chickamauga bass. Finishing in the top 10 in points each of the last seven seasons, Morgan was thrilled to finally break through and capture the first Angler of the Year title of his career.??
“It’s an incredible honor to win the title, but there’s no way I could have done it without Evinrude,” Morgan said. “One of the keys to my success this season has been my Evinrude E-TEC engine. It gives me the confidence to make long runs while I’m outrunning the field. I’m able to make it to my fishing spot first and that gives me peace of mind.”??
Fellow Team Evinrude angler Casey Martin may be hoisting his own Angler of the Year trophy one day if he continues to perform like he did this past weekend. Martin’s four-day weight of 103 pounds, 3 ounces is the second highest total in FLW Tour history. Furthermore, his 22 pound, 11 ounce margin of victory is the second biggest in Tour history.??
“This weekend was a dream come true for me,” Martin said.”But I’d like to give credit to Andy Morgan for having a great season. He’s had an incredible career and is very deserving of this title.”??
Martin and Morgan were joined on the leader board by Team Evinrude anglers Wesley Strader who finished in second place at 80 pounds, 8 ounces, Dan Morehead who placed fourth at 77 pounds, 2 ounces and Larry Nixon who finished seventh after bagging 71 pounds, 6 ounces.? ?

”Congratulations to Andy Morgan, who continues to prove he’s one of the best anglers on tour, and to Casey Martin on an inspiring tournament win,” said Krista Heidgerken, Senior Communications Specialist for Evinrude. “Overall Team Evinrude performed great on Lake Chickamauga, and we’re looking forward to sustaining this success going into the 2013 Forrest Wood Cup.”????
