Anglers Quest 2007 T-MATCH Series final went off on Lake Houston from Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, Tx which was the selected lake chosen by the remaining 2 teams in the T-Match competition. The event began at 7:00 am. Weigh in was conducted at 11:00 am. Lake Houston water was a bit off color and about normal pool level with water temps running 88-90 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 78 degrees with a warming to 90 degrees by weigh in time. The fishing was very poor on Houston today as there were no limits brought to the scales, a total of 7 bass at 15.55 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.22 lb.
“Team Rip the Lips” Mark Rouse from LaPorte & Randy Quin from Huffman, Tx ran Mark’s Triton/Yamaha bass rig to south creek areas to catch their bass throwing spinner baits and flipping Tx rigged 6″worms in 2-8 ft of water using Allstar rods with Shimano reels spooled with Seaguar fluocarbon line. Mark & Randy caught 4 bass at 8.43 lbs to finish the series in 1st place and collect $950.00.
“Team Verticle Smile” Albert White from Houston and Bill Harlan from Crosby, Tx ran Albert’s Champion/Mercury bass rig way up the E. Fork to finish in the runner-up position using Tournament Choice rods & Shimano reels spooled with 15# Berkley big game line to present scum frogs and flukes to catch 3 bass that tipped the scales at 7.12 lbs.
As per the T-MATCH rules, the winning and runner-up teams for 2007 qualified to go to the guaranteed $10,000.00 to the winning team “Tournament of Champions”to be held in November on Lake Tyler in Whitehouse, Tx. The T-MATCH Series will be run again in 2008, entries are being taken now for the new season to begin on March 2, 2008, don’t miss the chance to get your team signed up for this great 95% payback series.
