Anglers Quest 2007 Twin Lake Saturday Series #16 on Lake Houston out of Lake Houston Marina in Huffman, TX began this event with 38 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $1215.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 6:30 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Saturday Series after all 20 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2008 Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams will go to the Saturday Series Championship in October on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston. A special Top 7 group of teams will qualify to go to the Guaranteed $10,000.00 to the winning team “Tournament of Champions” to be held in November on Lake Tyler. All A/Q Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $100.00 per team.

Lake Houston water was running and a bit off color from all the recent rains and about 1 ft above normal pool level with water temps running 88-90 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 75 degrees with a warming to 88 degrees by weigh in time. The fishing has been getting better on Lake Houston as there were 6 limits brought to the scales today, a total of 54 bass at 106.32 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 1.96 lb.

It was Team TIREMAX, Ricky & Charlotte Guy from Humble, Tx running to numerous areas of the north end in their TIREMAX wrapped Ranger/Yamaha to catch their limit of bass flipping Tx rigged brush hogs in 2-6 ft of water around points, bushes and laydowns. Ricky & Charlotte weighed 5 bass at 11.67 lbs to finish in 1st place and also claim 2nd big bass and collected $725.00 for their day on the water.

Greg Crawford from Huffman and Sammy Smith from Crosby, ran Greg’s Champion/Mercury bass rig to north creek areas of Lake Houston to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass caught on Tx rigged plastics that tipped the scales at 10.76 lbs. Greg & Sammy had the 1st big bass at 2.85 lbs giving them a total payday of $465.00 for their day on the lake.

Chuck McClurkin & Doug Worzel from Humble, Tx ran Chuck’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to a 3rd place finish with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 10.12 lbs to collect $215.00 for their day on the water. Chuck & Doug reported catching their limit on Tx rigged worms around shallow cover in the Luces Bayou & E. Fork area.

Anglers Quest’s next event will be the 21st of 23 Tuesday Series on Lake Houston at Lake Houston Marina on August 21st Entry fee is $70.00 & take off will be at 6pm weigh in will be at 9:15 pm. August 22nd A/Q will be at the 21st of 23 Wednesday Series on Lake Conroe with $60.00 team entry fee hosted from Inland Discount Marine, takeoff will be at 6pm and weigh in at 9:15 pm.
