This week on the World’s Greatest Fishing Show, ESPN Outdoors personality Mark Zona will take Bassmaster Elite Series pro Jeff Kriet for a day of fishing on Texas’ Falcon Lake, considered one of the nation’s best fisheries. On Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:30 a.m. ET, Zona and Kriet, of Ardmore, Okla., bring viewers a better perspective of the largemouth bass at Falcon, where Elite Series pro Paul Elias of Laurel, Miss., weighed in 132 pounds, 8 ounces during the 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series Lone Star Shootout, shattering the BASS four-day tournament record for heaviest overall catch.
Also on Saturday is the conclusion of Beat Charlie Moore at 7:30 a.m. on ESPN2. Last week Moore accepted the challenge from longtime fan Jim Marco, who submitted more than 250 online requests. Last week the two anglers started a bass fishing derby between themselves. In typical Beat Charlie Moore fashion, a new rule was added for the competition, and each angler must eat a hot pepper for his fish to count.
Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing heads to the Bimini Islands of the Bahamas for the Sunday, Feb. 8, show at 7:30 a.m. on ESPN2. Host George Poveromo is joined by Mindie Whitten of Boise, Idaho, who won the Columbia Sportswear “Reel Stories” contest, for which the prize package included a saltwater fishing experience. Poveromo cruises into some of his most productive bottom-fishing spots in the Bahamas, in search of yellowtail snapper and cero mackerel.
Spanish Fly heads back to Key West, Fla., where ESPN Outdoors personality and host Jose Wejebe is joined by local fishing guides Rush Maltz and Steve Rodger as the group fishes for tuna, mahi mahi and sailfish. The Sunday, Feb. 8, episode at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN2 also provides viewers with a tips and tactics segment for winter fishing.
ESPN Outdoors will continue to provide quality programming and tips from professionals and experts who give the latest information with the most entertaining and exciting outdoor action on television and the Web.
