ESPN2 kicks off its April outdoors coverage with a wealth of fishing content, including the debut episode of the ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series presented by TakeMeFishing.org. In addition to superior saltwater coverage, fishing fans can look forward to The Bassmasters, set for Saturday, April 4, at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN2, which will highlight coverage from the Toyota Trucks Diamond Drive on Lake Dardanelle.
The ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series will depict the unique lifestyle of saltwater tournament fishing and highlight several world-class fishing destinations. This week, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs is in search of bonefish in picturesque Key Largo, Fla. Jose Wejebe, longtime host of The Spanish Fly on ESPN2, anchors the coverage.
With the Bassmaster Elite Series season in full swing, The Bassmasters will highlight Diamond Drive champion Mark Menendez and his unique approach to the weather-shortened event. Menendez became the first angler in nearly 15 years to win an Elite-level BASS event with an aluminum boat. The Paducah, Ky., native scored his third BASS victory and viewers will be treated to the details of his unique pattern.
Finally, with a hint of danger, the first day of competition from the Madfin Shark Series will air 9 a.m. on Sunday. In the only catch-and-release shark competition, competitors scour the shallow waters of Key West for sharks that measure more than 5 feet in length. Four teams are competing in a head-to-head format and only two teams will advance to the finals.
ESPN Outdoors continues to provide the best how-to outdoors programming featuring industry luminaries, experts, athletes and celebrities.
