The Genius of a Win

When Pro/Boater, Andy Gaia, of Tomball, TX, walked up to the Wal-Mart BFL tournament weigh-in stage with his 5 bass limit on Saturday, January 27, all eyes focused on the weigh-master as he announced, âfive bass, ALL ALIVE, 26 -lbs, 7- ozs. The attending crowd applauded with cheers as Gaiaâs incredible catch earned him $4,471 for his first place pro/boater win. But the âhurrahsâ werenât over yet as Andyâs co/angler, Michael Edmiston of Katy, TX, walked up to put his 5 bass/20-lb, 9-oz catch on the scale to claim the first place co/angler win for a $2,631 payday. Their 10 bass catch totaled an amazing 46.12 lbs for the teamed draw tournament anglers, earning them $7,102 for their day of competitive bass fishing.

Gaia and Edmiston were fishing a Sebile, a uniquely designed hard plastic crank-bait developed in France and introduced to the American bass fishing scene in 2006. A few of these French lures were loaned to Andy Gaia for testing the competitive waters of BFLâs Cowboy Div; tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn. And the results were tremendous, producing a 10 bass weight of 46.12 lbs for Andy Gaia and Michael Edmiston that simply amazed an astonished the attending public. Sebile not only proved its value as a competitive tool for tournament anglers, but also promises to become one of the HOTTEST lures for the 2007 sport fishing season!

Designed by Frenchman, Patrick Sebile, a detail perfectionist angler from Nice, France, strove for eight years to develop precise features for his unique fishing lures. Patrick succeeded in his creation by designing a lure with specific fishing benefits that would make anglers think twice about using anything else. Sebileâs signature line is the Possessed series of baits in which the lure is partially filled with a fluid that suspends with a glitter that moves and flows inside the baits, giving the lures âmass transferâ for casting extremely well while emitting natural âultra low frequencyâ sounds when retrieved. The suspending lures even have movement at rest that emulates lifelike muscle contractions. âHowever, all of the lures uniqueness doesnât take away from the fact that these baits have incredible swimming action when worked around bass structure.

âI work directly with Sebile, stated Pro/Staff director, Stephen Johnston, and after meeting Mr. Sebile last April we proceeded to fish Lake Sam Rayburn with his lures for the very first time in America. I found the action, quality, and balance of his unique baits to be very exceptional. Sebile crank-baits have tungsten beads for rattle with a secret fluid within that makes it come alive with either undulating gold or silver flakes, which gives off flashes like a true baitfish does. I fished with Andy Gaia down at Lake Amistad, catching several bass in the eight to nine pound class. So Andy decided to use the baits during his upcoming BFL tournament on Rayburn.

âAt first, Andy Gaia said, I took the baits out and fished them a little on Rayburn, but didnât really build any confidence with them until I found myself having problems catching bass. So I found some really nice grass during the BFL tournament and made a cast, immediately catching a nice four pound bass. âWell, I said to myself, it looks like this may work after all! And continued to work it in similar grassy areas and managed to put three more nice bass in the boat. Meanwhile, my draw partner, Michael Edmiston, wasnât doing anything, so I hooked him up with a Sebile and he immediately started putting bass in the live-well. When Edmiston managed to catch about 20 lbs, he was well satisfied and quit fishing to allow me to concentrate more on my fishing efforts. And that is how I was able to catch my 26-7 lb win at the BFL event, which was anchored by a 7 -lb -11-oz bass. These Sebile lures were definitely the right choice for me as they worked perfectly on slow or fast retrieves with 100% action in either deep or shallow grass. Andy Gaiaâs sponsors are Ranger Boats- Yamaha Outboards, Texas Marine, Sebile Lures, Kistler Rods, Santone Lures, Hambyâs Keel Protector, TireMax.

These simply are amazing baits, stated Pro/Angler, Dave Mauldin, and were recently inserted on the shelves at Annâs Tackle Shop in Jasper, TX.
