Anglers Quest 2010 Sam Rayburn Weekend Team Series #8 out of Mill Creek Park in Brookeland, TX began this event with 60 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $4045.00 purse. After the playing of the National Anthem this event was started at 6:20 am. The anglers had to be in line to weigh by 3:15 pm. This Rayburn Weekend Team Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2011 Rayburn Weekend Team Series events.

FLASH All A/Q lake series championships have been reinstated for 2010 and will be done on home series lakes. The Top 25 anglers entering a minimum of 5 Rayburn Weekend Team series events will automatically qualify for the 1-day Sam Rayburn Weekend Team Championship on October 9th. Any angler making the cut to any A/Q Championship will also qualify for the “Tournament of Champions” at Lake Palestine on November 11-12-13-14.

Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and about 4 3/4 ft below normal pool level with water temps ranning 90-92 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 84 degrees with a warming to 98 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was pretty good on Big Sam today as there were 13 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 79 bass at 226.18 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.86 lb.

The team of “The Todd” Castledine & Brent Broussard from Nacogdoches ran “The Todds” Legend/Mercury bass rig to various mid lake scattered grass areas in 2′-8′ water to catch their 5 bass limit on their Castaway rods & Shimano reels spooled with Seaguar and Suffix braid tipped with Strike Pro, Excite & Combat lures. They were able to hold their boat positions with their Power Pole. They had a limit of fish in the boat in the first 15 minutes of the T and caught 15 keepers during the day. The team weighed in at 2:30 to avoid any more of their fish dying, as their big bass bellied up. Todd & Brent had 23.38 lbs making them a $1550.00 payday for a 1st place finish.

The team of Jaret Latta & Chris Fontenot from Nacogdoches ran Jaret’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid main lake areas to catch their bass. They managed to cull up to their best 5 keepers late in the day to finish in 2nd place with 23.13 lbs and collect $820.00 for their day on the water.

Rusty Clark from Sam Rayburn & Cory Rambo from Orange ran their Ranger/Mercury bass rig to mid main lake on a milk ran to various places throughout the day to finish in 3rd place with a total of 5 bass at 18.47 lbs fishing with tx rigged worms around brush piles. They took home $600.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Shelby Shaw from Huntsville & Shane Gibson from Kilgore ran their Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to various lake areas to finish in 4th with their best 5 bass, caught using their rods tipped with frogs around shallow grass that tipped the scales at 18.15 lbs. They had a limit in the boat by 10 am and then culled several more times throughout the day. Their day on the lake payed back $400.00 for their efforts.

The team of Bobby Moody from Deer Park & David Smith from Humble ran Bobby’s Legend/Mercury bass rig to mid main lake areas to catch their bass using their rods tipped with cranks & tx rigged worms. They managed to catch 5 keepers by late in the day to finish in 5th place with 16.37 lbs and took home $200.00 for their day on the water.

The team of Chris McCall from Jasper & Pete Shivers from Kirbyville ran Chris’s Ranger/Rude bass rig to mid main lake areas with grass to catch their bass with their unnamed rods & Revo reels spooled with Berkley Fireline Braid tipped with Santone Rayburn swim jigs & Gambler Cane Toads in 1-3 ft of water. They had a limit of keepers in the boat by 10 am and culled several times by 3 pm to finish in 6th place with a sack of 14.71 lbs and collected $175.00 for their day on the water.

The first place out of the money team was 7th place, Keith Ray & Stephen West were present at the awards ceremony so the Santone & ZZ Lures gift certificates were awarded to them for their catch of 14.70 lbs.

Brian Branum & Bill Rogers had the Big Bass of the event at 7.19 lbs to collect $150.00 for that 1 bite. The entire results from this and all A/Q events put on by Anglers Quest can be viewed at the anglers-quest website.
