Anglers Quest Rayburn Saturday Team #6
Anglers Quest 2013 Sam Rayburn Saturday Team Series #6 out of The Umphrey Pavilion at Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 100 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $8725.00 purse. Any team entering 6 of the Sam Rayburn Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Rayburn Championship. The top team in points after the series will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2014 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday series events will automatically qualify for all 3 of the Lakes Saturday Series 2-day Championships. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the “Tournament of Champions” on October 23-27 at Toledo Bend.
This 6th event of 2013 was started at 5:50 am. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and 1.77 feet below normal pool level with water temps ranning 79-82 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 72 degrees with a warming to 90 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was good on Big Sam today as there were 24 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 138 bass at 336.14 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.43 lb.
The team of Tommy Hill & Bubba Frazier from Kountze, Tx ran Tommy’s Bullett/Mercury bass rig to north lake areas with grass to catch their bass throwing frogs & top water baits in 3-5 ft of water. They managed to cull a number of times to finish in 1st place with 19.16 lbs. Tommy caught the 8.04 lb Big Bass of the event on the 1st cast of the day. This win made them $2825.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Rusty Clark from Sam Rayburn, Tx & Cory Rambo from Orange, Tx ran Cory’s Ranger/Yamaha from Premier Yamaha Boats in Beaumont, Tx to north lake areas to catch their bass throwing c-rigged worms & lizards along with top water River2Sea proto-type pop n frogs in 1-5 ft of water. They managed to cull from many keepers to finish in 2nd place with 18.16 lbs and made them $1450.00 for their day on the water. The father & son team of Stan & Steve Burgay from Timpson, Tx ran their bass rig to mid & north lake creek areas to probe the grassy areas holding bass to bring 18.10 lbs to the scales. They finished in 3rd and collected $750.00 for their day on the water.
The team of N Dee Williams from Cushing, Tx & Jeff Wise from Lufkin, Tx ran N Dee’s Ranger/Evinrude bass rig to mid lake creek areas over grass to catch their bass throwing Stanley 1/2 oz spinner baits in 3-7 ft of water. They managed to cull several times to finish in 4th place with 17.41 lbs. The team wanted to give special Thanks to The Boat Center at Lake Palestine for the awesome service they provide. This made them $700.00 for their day on the water. The team of John Scott III from Nacogdoches, Tx & Jody Norsworthy from Jasper, Tx finished in 5th with 16.28 lbs. This finish made them $650.00 for their day on the water. The team of Mike Needham & Todd Gualandri finished in 6th with 16.12 lbs and collected $600.00. The team of Shelby Shaw & Lance Hughes finished in 7th with 15.74 lbs and collected $550.00.

Anglers Quest will be back on Lake Houston for the 11th of 23 Tuesday evening events on June 4th. On June 8th Anglers Quest will be back at Lake Livingston for the 6th of 8 Saturday Series events. On June 9th A/Q will be back at Lake Houston for the 6th Individual event of the year. Then A/Q will be back on Lake Houston on June 11th & 18th for the 12th & 13th of the 23 Tuesday events.
NOTE Anglers Quest in an effort to increase entries in the Individual Series events on Lake Livingston & Lake Houston has switched the dates of the 2 series events to make the Individual events not fall on the same weekend as the Team events. The 3 remaining Livingston Individual events will be on June 23-July 21-August 18. The 3 remaining Houston Individual events will be on June 9-July 14-August 4. We do hope this change does not cause anyone any inconvenience?we are trying to make these 2 series better for you and A/Q.
