Tune in Sunday to “Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the $300,000 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour event held in Mayport, Fla., July 8-9. The third event of the most lucrative kingfish tournament trail in the country – the $1.7 million FLW Kingfish Tour – concludes with the winning team claiming a cash prize of $70,000.
The “Wal-Mart FLW Outdoors” saltwater series is a reality-format show told from the anglers’ perspective. Each week the top four teams are followed from takeoff to weigh-in, allowing the audience to feel the anglers’ nerves, listen to their strategy and learn from their mistakes. The stories evolve and the suspense grows throughout the one-hour show until the final weigh-in results are announced.
FLW Kingfish Tour events are two-day tournaments with the heaviest single kingfish determining the winner.
With another hurricane churning in the Gulf waters on the other side of Florida, the feeder bands of weather threaten to turn this two-day competition into a one-day free-for-all. The conditions are tough as Hurricane Dennis moves the kingfish into areas unknown. All of the practice the teams did earlier in the week means nothing on tournament day.
Once again, Team Cat Daddy and Team Capt. Dan return to the water with cameras onboard. These two teams have been neck and neck in the last two tournaments. See the reaction of Cat Daddy’s team members as they hear the results of Team Capt. Dan’s finish on day one.
Team Megabyte makes an early departure back to Alabama to make preparations for the approaching storm. Team Talkin’ Trash takes the front seat at the end of day one with a 40-pound, 10-ounce catch. With anticipation of conditions getting worse, the trash talkers have a good shot at holding on to the lead for day two, but will they?
The teams will tell their stories of rising to the top and sliding off the leaderboard. Some of the points leaders take a hit while allowing other teams to play catch-up.
