Wildside To Launch Fishing The Wildside TVâ in 2004

Fishing the WildSide, Inc. announced today that it will air its first-ever fishing TV show in 2004. The program will air for in third quarter of 2004 and be called Fishing the WildSide TV. 

WildSide founders Chip Leer and Tommy Skarlis, along with other WildSide staff, will host the new program, which will cover the total fishing experience-from on-the-water and on-ice action, safety, techniques and many other aspects of the sport. “It’s a show that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of their fishing knowledge” says Leer. “Our goal is simplify fishing techniques, allowing people to have more fun, fish more often and be great stewards to our lakes and rivers.” 

The show will air Sundays on FSN at 8 a.m., starting July 4, 2004 and running 12 consecutive weeks. In this initial season, WildSide will develop six original programs and plans to develop 13 brand-new shows for airing on FSN in first and second quarter 2005. Airtimes for the 2005 season will be 8:00 A.M. on Sundays during FSNâs popular weekend outdoors programming block. 

“It is has long been our goal to bring our messages and passion about the sport of fishing to a wider audience through a TV program,” says WildSide’s Skarlis. “We already have well established publications, events and retail initiatives in place. Adding TV to our line up takes us to the next level. We are thrilled to be going on the air.” 

St. Paul-based Media Rare will produce Fishing The WildSide TVâ for WildSide. Media Rare is best known for its extensive history in developing high quality, entertaining outdoors programs such as the Environmental Journal and the Minnesota Pro/Am Bass Tour TV show.
